Get ready for your close up!

Wow, I know that I haven't posted for only about three days, but with such a whirlwind, it feels like it's been months.

Last post, I spoke about my acceptance to LSU, and mentioned the upcoming princess promenade... I suppose that is where I should pick up!

The Daffodil Princess Promenade was at 7:00 PM at the McGavick Center at Clover Park Technical College... What a beautiful place! Nice and simple, but all of the decorations really made this a true (semi) formal affair.

So Saturday morning, we princesses all drove out to the Tacoma Mall Nordstrom before it opened, and got the store opened up all to ourselves! We went into their cafe bistro for a light parfait breakfast then went downstairs to get our makeup done. I was paired up with a nice woman whose daughter goes to Orting (the daughter is Mikaela Morey... sorry if I spelled that wrong)... I had a wonderful time speaking with her, and guess what? She was doing my makeup in the Georgio Armani booth-- are ya kiddin'?! I know, right? That makeup must be suppppper spendy... Anyway, she did a splendid job and then we stuck around for their morning assembly where they presented some "hot new items" to the employees and learned about Nordstrom employee discounts.

Afterward, we did our very first (semi) public performance of our song and dance routine (you guessed it, "Don't Stop Believin'" as adapted by Glee!) and watched as they opened the entrance to the mall. We then proceeded to take photos in front of the Nordstrom sign and this adorable little girl came up and just stared at us, so of course we offered for her to take a picture with us-- it was so darling! (I really hope that Steve releases that adorable photo; priceless!)... After we finished up, I realized that I had an extra daffodil pin in my purse and went to retrieve it. I then turned and chased them down, in heels, to give them the pin. Not going to lie, I never thought I'd be capable of running in heels quite so coordinated as I did that morning.

We then left Nordstrom and went to the McGavick center for a really, really long rehearsal. But it was fun! With all of my Princess-Sisters, we had a great time and got our routines down as well as walking for the nights program.

The back of my hair for promenade.
Sweet braid, right?!
I then went home to get ready, and Meagan Maki did my hair splendidly-- under an hour! Gosh, she is a miracle worker.

Shortly following, I scarfed down some lasagna and was on my way back to the venue! It was time!

All of us girls retrieved our sashes and jewelry and were scrambling to figure out how everything was supposed to be worn. It then became time to wait for the inauguration to commence.

Aaron Ruff was my educator of the year, so he as well as Jack Angeline (a daffodilian) escorted me down toward the stage during introductions and future plans. Cameras flashed everywhere, it felt like I was famous!

Pre-crowning at Promenade
Following introductions, we were finally crowned! I cannot explain the feeling of such an important ceremony; I suppose you youngins just need to find out for yourself. But wow, just wow, was that amazing.

We then were introduced as official princesses and proceeded to eat dessert. Shortly after, we performed our song and dance with a large applause following. It was just so amazing... I am so grateful for this opportunity! And if you are ever invited to an event, please do come! I am so taken back (in a good way) by all of the wonderful people that I meet at these places, especially the children... They are just amazing in my eyes.

Fast forward to Sunday, I can't say that I did too much, except finish my CP and Portfolio as well as clean my room; I'd say that's a bit of an accomplishment for a senior girl with too much on her plate! I didn't watch the Super Bowl, but I was rooting for the Giants anyways. :)

Now, today, Monday... I must say I haven't been feeling very well, and my nose is like a leaky faucet; not cool at all if you asked me... So school was so-so, and I wasn't in the brightest of moods, but that's okay I suppose. On to the afternoon: formal portraits for Daffodil Royalty! Right after school! (*inserts another "are ya kiddin'?!" quote*) At the Courtyard Mariott in Tacoma! So I called Meagan, at last minute, desperately begging for help with my hair, since I had no idea how to control my curls enough to look nice but not casual... She came back down from Puyallup just for me! (Sorry Talicia...) Not only did she do that, but she did my hair in under a half hour. Talk about a total saint! Thank you!...

I then proceeded to go home and get ready then went with my dad and little sister to the hotel, which was totally beautiful. I got into my dress and the rest of the she-zam, and took my individual portrait on their beautiful red stairway in the lobby. It was really nice being able to just visit with the lovely ladies in our royal court in between shots, as well as figuring out how to make our "poof" look good while sitting on the ground... Then it was time for the group photo-- on the roof! Yeah, you heard me. We went up the service stairs and onto the roof to get the perfect sunset shot of the tacoma skyline with Mt. Rainier as a backdrop to our elegant yellow dresses. I had to stand on a 5 gallon bucket to be tall enough for the back row... Yikes! I don't like heights, and am highly uncoordinated, so I suppose that's too contradictions in a day, right?

All in all, today was amazing, and I am ridiculously tired.

Thank you all for reading. I know it's not super awesome or anything, but please comment so I can see who reads this.

Goodnight.
